With Nike+ ($19 for the Nike + iPod sensor; $29 for the Nike + iPod Sport Kit), a gadget made through a collaborative effort by Nike and Apple, runners can keep track of their runs and get detailed logs of their stats without having to have a GPS-enabled phone or other location-enabled device.

By placing a small sensor in his shoe, a runner can track distance, speed, and calories burned with an iPhone 3GS or iPod Touch by using a Nike + iPod Sensor, or with an iPod Nano by using a Nike + iPod Sport Kit. The whole Nike+ set up is a very convenient solution for any athletes who wish to track their runs stats, and is very inexpensive when compared to GPS-based run trackers.

Ease of Use

The entire Nike + iPod system is incredibly easy to set up and use with an iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch, or iPod Nano. Setting up Nike + iPod for the iPhone or iPod Touch is as simple as enabling the “Nike + iPod” app in settings, dropping the sensor in a Nike+ shoe, and starting app to track a run. Set up is even easier on an iPod Nano; just plug in the Nike + iPod receiver to the iPod, drop the sensor into a Nike+ shoe, and select “Nike + iPod” from the main menu.
