Two teams that have plenty of momentum will meet up on Sunday afternoon with a spot in the AFC Championship game on the line. Here is a look at each team and the match-up.

New York Jets Have Swagger

The New York Jets come into this game very confident. They have a bravado about them that likely comes from their boastful head coach Rex Ryan who proclaimed them the favorites to win the Super Bowl. The Jets felt disrespected as many felt they backed in to the playoffs or got lucky when the Colts rested their starters. They have used that as motivation and that fueled their impressive victory at Cincinnati last week. After a mediocre 7-7 start, the Jets found the winning formula the last three weeks - run the football, play great defense, and take care of the football. The last one had been a problem for the Jets, particularly QB Mark Sanchez, for much of the season. The last three games, though, he has been limited to around 15 throws, most of them short and conservative, allowing his playmakers to make plays with the run after the catch. When you have the number one defense, number one running game, and you take care of the football, that makes you awfully tough to beat.

San Diego Chargers At A Glance

After a slow start, the Chargers came on strong, ending the season with an eleven game winning streak. They were led by QB Philip Rivers who had perhaps his best season. His stats included 4,254 yards, a 65.2% completion percentage and 28 touchdowns to just 9 interceptions. He had many weapons in the passing game including Vincent Jackson (68 catches, 1,167 yards, 9 TDs), Antonio Gates (79 catches, 1,157, 8 TDs), and (Malcom Floyd (45 catches, 776 yards). The running game, however, was a big disappointment. It ranked fourth worst in the league. Ladaniam Tomlinson was a shell of his former self, averaging just 3.3 yards per carry. Darren Sproles wasn't much better at 3.7 yards per carry. Defensively, the Chargers were poor against the run. They ranked just 13th in the Conference. They were better against the pass where they ranked fifth in the Conference led by solid CBs Antonio Cromartie and Quinton Jammer.
